Can I claim my battery warranty if I lost the original box?
Last night my 2018 Honda City refused to start in the office parking, and I was already running late. A colleague gave me a jump, and by the evening I was sure the battery was finished, because it was only about fourteen months old. I remembered that the shop had given me a warranty, so I went home and started digging through my drawers. I found the small stamped paper, but the original box is gone, and I think my wife threw it away during a clean up. Now I am worried that the shop will use that as an excuse. My brother says the box is not important and that the paper and the invoice are enough. My neighbor says some places ask for everything, even the packaging, just to make it harder for you. A friend at work told me to take photos of the battery label, the date code and the paper before going anywhere, so I have proof in case they argue. Another colleague said the warranty can also be refused if the terminals look dirty or the car has a charging problem, so I should clean nothing and bring the battery exactly as it is. I read a page on in the evening to see what papers are normally needed, and it explained the period, what counts as a defect and which documents are worth keeping, which made me feel a little less lost. Now I am trying to get a Quick answer on the Amaron car battery warranty period, mainly to know if fourteen months is safely inside it or if I am already too late. My questions are easy. Do I really need the box, or is the invoice with the date enough? Will the shop test the battery before agreeing that it is faulty? Should I tell them about the jump start, or does that affect the claim? And how long does a replacement usually take, because I cannot be without the car for days? Please share what happened when you made a claim. Thanks for reading.
