Has anyone dealt with Lang, Richert & Patch for an old debt?

I’ve been getting calls from Lang, Richert & Patch about a debt I think might be past the statute of limitations in my state. I’m worried they might try to sue, but I also don’t want to restart the clock by accident. I came across this page that explains some defense and settlement strategies, but I’d love to hear real experiences. Has anyone negotiated a settlement with them or fought a lawsuit? What worked for you?
